When I first started writing in my teen years, I was penning entire notebooks of heavy metal songs. My main influence was 1980s glam metal where they followed the traditional verse-chorus-verse-chorus format.

And yes, I still have some of those notebooks today. Mind you, I rarely focused on sex workers. My lyrics covered other topics like politics, war, psychological damage, and nuclear armageddon.

Yeah, I was pretty hardcore. 😀

One song I’ve had stuck in my head was Nitro Woman. As soon as I wrote the first verse and chorus I could mentally hear the riff and vocals if it ever made it to a recording studio.

I can easily see Motley Crue/Nikki Sixx writing something like this in the 1980s (they not only had a fixation with women, but also weapons, chemicals, explosives, and all the other cool stuff). There’s something so damn catchy about it, as it’s been stuck in my head the last 15 years. Maybe I’m biased.

So, here it is, Nitro Woman (an ode to 80s glam metal) by yours truly, Corey Toomey. 👍

Verse 1

Like a warhead,
You rattle her, and she’ll blow you apart.
She’s a ticking time bomb
Going off at midnight.
To crumble, the city’s motor,
in her scorching sight.

Chorus

She’s the Nitro Woman, with the chemical bite
Take my day, make my night
She’s the Nitro Woman, and the rocket’s taking flight
Her fuse is ready, time to set it alight.

Verse 2

Like a human detonator,
You flick her switch, and you’ll be ashes in the crater
She’ll take you hostage, and it won’t be free
Dynamite, ammunition, and TNT

Chorus

She’s the Nitro Woman, awaiting the toxic sting
She’ll make me yell, and I’ll make her sing
She’s the Nitro Woman, in her room without a king
Surrounding the city with her fiery ring

Solo

Like a warhead,
You rattle her, and she’ll blow you apart
She’s a ticking time bomb (bomb, bomb, bomb, bomb)
Going off at midnight (night, night, night, night)
(night, night, night, night, night)

Like a human detonator,
Flick her switch, you’ll be ashes in the crater (crater, crater, crater, crater)
She’ll take you hostage and it won’t be free (no, no, no, no, no)

She’s the Nitro Woman, with the chemical bite
Take my day, make my night
She’s the Nitro Woman, awaiting the toxic sting
Make me yell, and I’ll make you sing

Nitro Woman, the rocket’s taking flight
Nitro Woman, set the fuse alight
Nitro Woman, room without a king
Nitro Woman, see her feiry ring
